In standard, a Gespage configuration managing several print servers will be spread over all the equipment as follows:
- Gespage [Gespage Application server]: manages the print logic, user accounts, the Web interface, the communication with Cartadis terminals, communication with the Windows or Linux agent. Installed on the main server.
- Gespage Agent [Gespage Print Service]: manages Windows or Linux print queues. Installed on the secondary servers.
Gespage Agents Gespage will be managed by Gespage server (present on only one equipment).
If you wish to make your configuration reliable to prevent the network from being out of service and having no print nor copy possibilities. Here is your solution:
In case of network break, Gespage can no longer communicate with these agents, no printings or copies can be performed.
Gespage features two additional services to solve this inconvenience:
- Gespage Agent Traqueur [Gespage Tracker Service]: manages Windows or Linux print queues. It may run autonomously if the connection to Gespage is off.
- Gespage Remote[Gespage Remote server]: manages the print logic on the secondary servers, performs communications with Gespage. It may run autonomously if the connection to Gespage is off.
Setting Tracker agent (supplied with Gespage pack) on your secondary servers allows you to print in degraded mode (no Print2me possibilty, no applicable rule and copying possibility).
In case of network break with Gespage, setting Gespage Remote (optional) allows you to continue to make prints and copies and to manage the user quotas and credits. In case of network failure, Gespage Remote takes over without any external intervention.

Deploying a main server over a « central » site and Gespage agents, Gespage agent Tracker or Gespage Remote either on remote sites or on other print servers on the same site, provides an undeniable technological advantage. . Print jobs sent to Gespage agents are processed and are therefore spooled locally. Jobs are not sent to the main server which reduces network traffic and ensures safety. This process also handles local printers. Local printer means an equipment not connected to the Ethernet network and connected to the USB workstation.
The pricing method has therefore no negative point because it is based neither on the quantity of print servers nor the number of users.
The idea of a main server and secondary agents leads to only have one element to pay: the Gespage main server. Gespage agents can be deployed without cost as much quantity as required on the other print servers.
The license mode is defined by point of print not by print server, the number of users is not taken into account. It is therefore possible to control a large amount of equipment spread over a large amount of servers by paying only one license. A competitive advantage compared with the solutions available on the market.
Whether it is a large structure with a hundred points of print, or a small structure such as a library or college, with two or three machines, the flexibility is ensured by an appropriate pricing based on the number of points of print.
